NESCent Conflict of Interest Policy
For members of the Scientific Review Board:
For members of the Scientific Review Board, a conflict of interest exists if the PI or co-PI on a proposal is:
- a current or former graduate or postdoc advisor or advisee;
- a family member or close relative;
- a collaborator within the past 2 years;
- at the same institution as the board member.
In addition, a conflict exists if the Board member is a participant in a proposed meeting, or if there is any other reason that the board member is not able to provide an objective evaluation of the proposal.
If a Board member is a PI or co-PI on a proposal, then that member will be recused from participation in all reviews during that particular round.
For NESCent Director/Associate Directors, at large members of the Operations Committee and members of the Senior Advisory Board:
For NESCent Directors and member of the Senior Advisory Board a conflict of interest exists in all of the above cases. In addition, a Director or Senior Advisory Board Member may not submit a proposal as a PI or co-PI.
A Director may not be listed as a participant in a meeting; however, Senior Advisory Board members and at large members of the Operations Committee may be a participant in a meeting proposal.
At-large members of the Operations Committee are covered by the same COI guidelines as the Directors, but may resign from the Operations Committee before submitting a proposal as a PI.
